How Search Engines Work
Search engine optimization has a lot of little moving parts. Search engines will scour websites for certain details, like meta tags and hyperlinks to pull back accurate results. In order to ensure your website pops up in the results, you need to make sure your various details are descriptive and accurate. There is not much more annoying than googling something and the results being completely irrelevant.
Why Keywords?
Keywords and descriptions in meta tags can be some of the most important small details for SEO. These mata tags will be what helps google, or other search engines find and display your website. Being specific enough to accurately describe your website without being overly detailed will make your website more likely to show up in search results.
Relevant Content Links
Writing good hyperlinks is important for a variety of reasons. People are naturally going to read links and being able to accurately describe the content will encourage them to click on your link. Additionally, writing simple, specific links that are easy to remember will allow people to recall them and share them more easily. Being able to find websites quickly will encourage more people to visit.
What Is Good Hierarchy
Good heading hierarchy is defined by using the h1-h6 heading in order. Each webpage should only ever have 1 h1 heading. This should be the main page title. After that, you should use a variety of heading sizes, but only after the previous heading is used. For example, you can use multiple h2 headings with multiple h3 headings under each. You can even skip some heading sizes if they arn't right for your page.
